April 14: Fort Tryon Stargazing "First Light" Soiree
Stargazing returns to Fort Tryon Park in 2010 with the "First Light" Soiree - NYCParks' celebration of the debut of my Obsession 15" UC telescope. The Obsession will be one of the largest amateur scope available for free use by the public in New York City. NY Parks will (hopefully) turn off the lights of a section of Fort Tryon Park to give us better views of the skies. It's all part of the 75th Anniversary Celebration of Fort Tryon Park, founded in 1935. When you are done, you can wark down to New Leaf Cafe for a glass of wine or their famous hot chocolate. Join me for a fantastic evening of star and planet gazing.
Our location will be the Linden Terrace right above the New Leaf Cafe. Parking is available near the cafe, and near the Cloisters. Subway is the "A" train to 190th Street, take the elevator to the Cloisters. Walk down the Promenade to the Terrace. Not far at all.
